Valerie has over 30 years of progressive talent acquisition experience, specializing in strategic marketing plans for total recruitment strategy development, candidate sourcing, candidate engagement, compensation review and negotiation.
Valerie enjoyed a lengthy career with Erlanger Health System, the nation’s seventh largest public hospital, where she served as Executive Director of Leadership Recruitment. In that role she was responsible for recruiting executive, clinical, administrative, and key physician service line directors. Under Valerie’s leadership, the team conducted local and national searches focusing on hiring best-in-class top talent for the health system’s seven hospitals.
Valerie’s knowledge of Human Resources recruitment compliance laws and her acumen with strategic marketing plans to source top talent further strengthen the Kirby Bates Team.
Valerie started her career as a Registered Nurse at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, TN, and later moved into Nurse Recruitment. Valerie has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and the American College of Healthcare Executives. She is also a Certified Targeted Selection Trainer in Behavioral Interviewing (DDI).
Valerie and her husband, Paul, live in Chattanooga, Tennessee. They have three children, three grandchildren, and two grand-dogs. Valerie enjoys nature and hiking, raising orchids, reading, and spending time with family.
