The Organizations:
Schneider Regional Medical Center in St. Thomas is a 169-bed acute-care facility providing a wide range of services. The system includes the Charlotte Kimelman Cancer Institute, providing state-of-the-art and comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services to the Eastern Caribbean; the Myra Keating Smith Community Health Center, providing comprehensive primary care on St. John; and the Star of Life ambulance boat. SRMC is the only acute-care facility in this district. A safety-net hospital, SRMC continues to make huge strides in upgrading its facilities, clinical programs, and patient and customer satisfaction, and works cohesively with sister facilities on St. Croix.
Gov. Juan. F. Louis Hospital and Medical Center in St. Croix is a 118-bed acute-care facility offering valued and comprehensive services to the community and includes the Virgin Islands Cardiac Center, which has been an attraction to many of the neighboring islands, offering state-of-the-art equipment and, most importantly, skilled interventional cardiology services.
The facilities are semi-autonomous agencies under the VI Government Hospital and Health Facilities Corporation.
The Opportunities: The Virgin Islands community is served by SRMC and Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital. Both facilities were affected by hurricanes Irma and Maria. Becoming a part of the team allows you the privilege of joining the Territorial Redevelopment Project to renovate and rebuild both hospitals and health care facilities. The project is in the A&E phase. You can become a part of and add to the future vision.
These are exceptional opportunities to work with high-energy executive teams and engaged boards to strategize the hospitals’ vision of continuing to provide excellent service for their island communities. A leader who is collaborative, transformational, communicative, and financially astute will be a great fit for these well-regarded facilities. We are seeking heath care executives who will bring vision to the facilities, further support clinical excellence, enhance revenues, and promote community engagement.
The Ideal Candidates for these positions will possess more than five years of senior health care management experience, ideally as CEO of a 100+-bed facility, or as a COO of a larger organization. A master’s degree is required and FACHE is preferred. Management experience in a public hospital or health system is a plus. In addition, candidates who have experience with revenue improvement, facilities construction/renovation, and fundraising, and who are comfortable in a union environment will be highly desirable. Connection to the Caribbean will be key to the candidates’ success.
