Kirby Bates Associates has been exclusively retained by University of Michigan Health-Sparrow to conduct their search for an Intermediate/Senior Compensation Analyst.

University of Michigan (UM) Health-Sparrow, Mid-Michigan’s only community-owned and community-governed health system is looking for a talented Compensation Analyst to join their growing HR team.  In this role, you will play a vital role in ensuring compensation programs are competitive, equitable and attract retain top talent.

Opportunity Highlights: 

  • Join a rapidly growing organization whose impact at more than 150 sites of care: UM Health-Sparrow Lansing, community hospitals in Carson City, Charlotte, Iona and St. Johns, and the 478 UM Health-Sparrow primary care providers and specialists serving patients in multiple locations across the region.
  • Mostly remote role. (Comp Analyst must reside in Michigan) *
  • Reports directly to the Regional Compensation Manager and is part of a collaborative regional HR team.


  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years compensation experience within a health system.
  • Ability to develop and implement compensation processes and programs.
  • Expert knowledge of HR and compensation practices, with strong knowledge of the Fair Labor Standards Act and other HR-related laws.
  • Expertise in reviewing and analyzing market data and presenting pay recommendations.
  • CCP or other compensation certification preferred.
  • Previous experience working in a union environment preferred.
