Interim Director of Rural Clinics

Kirby Bates Associates, a national Search and Consulting Firm, is working in partnership with Dignity Health at its Mercy Medical Center in Merced, CA to secure a nursing leadership professional to serve on an interim basis as the Director of Rural Clinics. This is a wonderful opportunity for a seasoned leader in providing leadership within an outstanding organization. This opportunity affords the right candidate to serve in a key leadership role with the primary responsibility for operational and patient care systems throughout the organization’s system of rural health clinics.

Reporting to the Hospital’s CNEO, the Director has strategic, fiscal, operational and educational responsibility and accountability for the delivery of patient care throughout the organization’s rural health clinics. The initial clinic started as a General Medicine Clinic in 1967. The Family Practice Residency Program in affiliation with U.C. Davis was started in 1974 and in 1978 the clinic was certified as Rural Health Clinic. Over the years the Rural Health Clinic experienced considerable growth and now is located in four permanent locations.

The Position

The Interim Director provides leadership, direction, and administration at this Dignity Health Clinic Program, part of Mercy Medical Center Merced. Responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operations for patient care delivery in accordance with  all applicable regulatory agencies to assure the highest degree of quality and patient safety.  Role models service excellence standards and builds teams that collaborate with others to serve and exceed the expectations of patients, family, and colleagues.  Manages and fosters positive physician relations with special focus on the Residency Program and supports growth and development for nursing staff.  Models appropriate behavior and fosters staff engagement as exemplified in the Dignity Health Mission and Values, “Through teamwork and innovation, faith and compassion, advocacy and action, we endeavor every day to keep our patients happy, healthy, and whole.”

Requirements for the position include:

  • Current RN License in the State of California required.
  • Master’s degree required; a minimum of Master’s or Bachelor’s degree must be in Nursing.
  • Minimum of five years leadership experience in outpatient services, preferably in clinic settings.
  • Leadership experience in a unionized hospital environment strongly preferred.
