Nurse Manager, Cardiothoracic Telemetry and Medical/Surgical Telemetry Units

Kirby Bates Associates is honored to be partnering with Huntington Hospital, a 619-bed Magnet designated, sophisticated community teaching hospital in the heart of the San Gabriel Valley, to recruit a Nurse Manager, Cardiothoracic Telemetry and Medical/Surgical Telemetry Units (Nurse Manager).  The Nurse Manager has 24-hour responsibility for the effective implementation of the philosophy, goals, policies and procedures of the hospital and the nursing unit and their effect on patient care.

The Nurse Manager will be responsible for directing departmental activities, implementing departmental programs, products, services, and/or strategies that ensure favorable operating results.  Ideal candidates will be a confident, poised, innovative leader with effective interpersonal skills. The incumbent will ensure quality patient care in the two Units, that are 32 beds each.  The Nurse Manager reports to the Director, Med/Surg, Acute Rehab, PICC and WOCN services and is responsible for 151 FTEs. Direct reports include three clinical supervisors (one open position to be hired by the Nurse Manager).

The Nurse Manager works collaboratively to:

  • Provide departmental management by maximizing the department’s effectiveness, ensuring patient-focused care and the hospital’s mission and vision are integrated into daily activities.
  • Direct and integrate external, interdepartmental and intradepartmental services.
  • Ensure quality patient care with continuing education activities and projects.
  • Lead staff in a supportive, positive partnership with effective communication and listening skills.
  • Engage staff to continue unit-based councils and Magnet shared governance goals.
  • Maintain effective team meetings while developing and administering departmental policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain budgets, including staff (position control), salaries, equipment, supplies, facilities, etc.
  • Role model excellent customer service and hold staff accountable to providing excellent patient care.


  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree.
  • Five years of related experience, including proven leadership experience, in Medical Telemetry and Post-procedural Cardiac patient care.
  • Certification in applicable Professional Nursing Specialty, preferred.
  • Successful managerial, communication and organizational skills.
