The Position

Job Responsibilities

The VP Retained Search Services’ leads and manages executive and operational searches. The VP supports business development by marketing  KBA services and securing repeat client engagements by attaining the highest-level customer and candidate satisfaction.

The VP provides leadership for the search team and establishes priorities and timelines to manage multiple searches effectively. The VP defines the search strategy for candidate development, supervises the research and sourcing team, oversees the candidate development process, interviews and recommends final candidates, and develops information for client updates/interviews. The incumbent ensures positive communication and appropriate flow of information to all candidates and clients to meet client expectations for the outcomes of the search. The VP develops and maintains a broad network of professional relationships.

The incumbent actively contributes to the strategic planning, management and overall success of KBA.

Search Leadership

  • Works with the EVP and the client to define the unique cultural attributes, organizational challenges, stakeholder expectations, competencies and candidate characteristics for each search. Conducts on-site visits as requested.
  • Develops a criteria-based search process based on critical qualifications and selection criteria. Incorporates criteria into the Search Associate screening process, candidate questionnaire, proposed Search Committee interviews questions and candidate evaluation tool for client interviews.
  • Directs the research process to ensure current and accurate contact information (Workbenches) and develops a search strategy that outlines a comprehensive communication plan to efficiently reach high potential candidates.
  • Ensures the creation of professionally drafted communications including an Opportunity Overview, email, electronic postings, tweets etc. to distribution information to the target market. Obtains client input and approval as needed.
  • Manages the overall search team deliverables as it relates to candidate identification and development ensuring targets are met and outcomes are achieved.
  • Ensures the team maintains up-to-date, accurate and complete records of all conversations, calls and emails placed to prospective or active candidates and clients in the Encore database.
  • Prepares a written Candidate Presentation to include a reformatted resume, summary qualifications for the position, candidate questionnaire and references.
  • Provides consultative advice to the client on the format and process of candidate interview and selection process including consultative advice regarding compensation and other ancillary consideration when a job offer is extended.

Business Development

  • Promotes KBA services to potential clients and identifies additional client needs that align with KBA services.
  • Communicates information about KBA through communication, marketing letters and material.
  • Maintains periodic communication with candidates after placement and works with EVP to ensure ongoing communication with clients.
  • Maintains a broad professional network through activity in professional associations, conferences, presentations and other professional activities.

Education and Experience Criteria

  • A Master’s Degree in Nursing, Human Resource Management, Healthcare Administration, or another relevant field is preferred
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in talent acquisition with retained search experience required.
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills and the ability to persuade and influence people.
  • Outstanding professionalism, honesty and integrity.
  • Possess detailed knowledge of hospital nursing operations.
