Midland Health has exclusively retained Kirby Bates Associates to lead a national search for a Director of Critical Care at Midland Memorial Hospital (MMH).

The Director of Critical Care is a newly created position that provides visible, credible, and strategic leadership for the ICU and PCU, championing high-quality patient care, staff engagement, and operational excellence. Reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer, this leader is responsible for the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of patient care programs, policies, and procedures across the division.  Great focus on patient centered approach and interdisciplinary collaboration of care delivery is priority. The role partners closely with executive leadership, medical staff, ancillary departments and frontline teams to drive shared decision-making, foster a culture of safety and accountability, and advance quality, performance improvement, and patient outcomes. The Director oversees budgeting, resource allocation, and workforce planning while ensuring compliance with regulatory and organizational standards. As a transformational leader, the Director will inspire a shared vision, promote innovation in care delivery, ensure evidence-based and best practices while cultivating a collaborative environment that enables clinicians to perform at their highest level.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree required (Doctorate preferred); BSN required if graduate degree is not in nursing.
  • Current/eligible Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the State of Texas.
  • Professional certification in nursing or executive leadership required; clinical specialty certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive nursing experience, including at least five years in leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated expertise in critical care operations, quality improvement, patient safety, and outcome metrics.
  • Extensive experience providing high-quality, patient-centered care to complex critically ill populations, utilizing evidence-based guidelines, best practices, and continuous quality improvement initiatives to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Strong financial and operational acumen, including budgeting, resource management, and strategic planning
  • Proven ability to lead change, build high-performing teams, and foster a culture of collaboration and accountability.
