Chief Nursing Officer

With a dynamic leadership team and dedicated staff, as well as a new facility that opened in 2019, the Chief Nursing Officer at Nantucket Cottage Hospital will experience the best of both worlds – leading nursing practice in this quaint rural community hospital partnered with the world-renowned Mass General Brigham.  The CNO will enjoy island living on this National Historic Landmark district with pristine beaches, boating, festivals, cultural arts, and a rich history, while only a quick flight or ferry service to historic Boston.

Nantucket Cottage Hospital (NCH) is a non-profit hospital that serves the Nantucket Island community by providing healthcare services for 12,000 full-time residents that increases to more than 75,000 during the warmer months.  NCH sets a national standard for small community hospitals, giving patients a central location for all their healthcare needs; services include primary and specialty outpatient care, emergency patient care, inpatient and observation beds, state of the art perioperative and C-Section facilities, latest diagnostic testing and unique capabilities including telemedicine equipped patient rooms.

Position Highlights:

  • Lead all nursing care units in collaboration with Nurse Managers, Department Managers, Nursing Coordinators, Nursing Supervisors, Directors and Physicians.
  • Oversight of programs within Patient Care Services including Medical Surgical, Emergency, Perioperative, Labor and Delivery, Clinics, Infusion Therapy, Dialysis, Nutrition and Rehabilitation.
  • Ensure competent, compassionate patient care in ambulatory, inpatient and community settings; lead the management team to attain short and long-term goals and objectives, executing strategies and plans designed to achieve objectives.
  • Collaborate with other hospital executives to meet organizational goals and objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s and master’s degree, one of which must be in Nursing.
  • Prior nursing leadership experience as a Chief Nurse in a community or critical access hospital is preferred.
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure to practice as a registered nursing in Massachusetts.
