Chief Nursing Officer

The Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) leads all nursing care units in collaboration with Nurse Managers, Department Managers, Nursing Coordinators, Nursing Supervisors, Directors, Physicians and Administrators in Nursing and Palliative Care. Areas of accountability also include oversight of programs within Patient Care Services including Medical Surgical, Emergency, Perioperative, Labor and Delivery, Clinics, Infusion Therapy, Dialysis, Nutrition and Rehabilitation. The CNO ensures competent, compassionate patient care in ambulatory, inpatient and community settings by:

  • Directing and developing the organization of assigned departments.
  • Leading the management team to attain short and long-term goals and objectives.
  • Executing strategies and plans designed to achieve objectives and collaborating with other hospital executives to meet organizational goals and objectives.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE CRITERIA

  • Licensed or eligible for licensure to practice as a registered nursing in Massachusetts.
  • Bachelor’s and master’s degree, one of which must be in Nursing. Doctoral degree preferred.
  • Prior nursing leadership experience as a Chief Nurse in an acute care hospital or nursing leadership experience at a larger acute care facility.

Nantucket, MA: Prestigious island living on this National Historic Landmark district with pristine beaches, boating, festivals, cultural arts, and a rich history is also only a short flight from historic Boston. Nantucket is an island located 30 miles south of Cape Cod, MA. It is a summer destination marked by unpainted cedar-shingled buildings, many surrounded by manicured privets. The wharves and cobblestoned streets of the Town of Nantucket are lined with restaurants, high-end boutiques and steepled churches. The town’s Whaling Museum recounts the island’s role as a 19th-century whaling hub.
