Director of Critical Care

UM ST. JOSEPH MEDICAL CENTER is seeking an experienced, dynamic contemporary nursing leader to assume the role of Director of Critical Care. This position reports to Rose Labriola, Vice President of Nursing and Patient Care Services. The Director will have responsibility for a 28 bed Intensive Care Unit, 12 Intermediate Care beds, and 6 Cardiac Surgery beds. The Director will have oversight for 100 FTEs. There is hospitalist 24-hour physician coverage in critical care. There is also a Rapid Response Team available 24/7. The electronic medical record in use is EPIC. Direct reports to this position include two Managers: one for the ICU and one for the IMC and Cardiac Surgery.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree, one of which must be in Nursing.
  • Critical Care Experience in open heart surgery within a complex organizational setting.
  • Five to seven years of leadership in a complex organizational setting.
  • Contemporary leadership expertise, knowledge of emerging efficient models of nursing care, and initiatives for improving nursing practice, safety, quality and patient satisfaction/outcomes.

Fort McHenry, birthplace of the U.S. national anthem, “The Star-Spangled Banner,” sits at the mouth of Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. Today, this harbor area offers shops, upscale crab shacks and attractions like the Civil War–era warship the USS Constellation and the National Aquarium, showcasing thousands of marine creatures.
