Director of Quality, Safety and Education Perioperative Services

Kirby Bates Associates is pleased to partner with Rhode Island Hospital in their search for a Director of Quality, Safety and Education of Perioperative Services.

Rhode Island Hospital (RIH) is a private, not-for-profit, 719 bed acute care hospital and the state’s only Level I trauma center and verified burn center. RIH is the largest hospital in RI and provides comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services, as well as expertise in cancer, cardiology, diabetes, emergency medicine, neurosciences, orthopedics and more.

Reporting to the VP of Perioperative Services, the Director is responsible for 24/7 leadership of Quality, Safety and the Education department within PeriOperative Services which includes the main OR and two ambulatory ORS, SPD, Endoscopy, IR, Cath Lab, etc. This includes establishment of scope of practice, standards of practice, the design, implementation, evaluation and continuous quality improvement of programs and systems of patient care delivery, as well as addressing all educational needs across PeriOperative Services.

Opportunity Highlights:

  • The opportunity to conduct a needs assessment and build a department to support Perioperative Services with 44 ORs.
  • Management of continuous quality improvement; development & implementation of effective quality programs.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Nursing or Business Administration.
  • Seven years of progressively responsible management experience.
  • OR experience.
  • Highly analytical with strong financial acumen.
  • Certification in specialty within two years.
  • Union experience.
