Kirby Bates Associates has been exclusively retained by Bayhealth to identify candidates for their Senior Director, Emergency and Observation ServicesWith responsibility for over 100,000 ED visits across the System, the Senior Director is responsible for Emergency and Observation Services across three campuses: Bayhealth ED and Trauma Center, Kent Campus, with 52,000 visits, 40+ bays, 4 trauma bays, and 3 behavioral health rooms, and a 21 bed Observation Unit, Bayhealth ED and Trauma Center, Sussex Campus, with 36,000 visits, 27 bays, 2 trauma bays and 3 behavioral health rooms, and an 8 bed Observation Unit, Bayhealth Emergency Center, Smyrna, a freestanding ED with 18,000 visits and 10 bays.

Bayhealth, a not-for-profit healthcare system, is comprised of Bayhealth Hospital, Kent Campus with 266 beds in Dover, DE, Bayhealth Hospital, Sussex Campus with 120 beds in Milford, DE, Bayhealth Emergency Center, Smyrna, Bayhealth Cancer Center, Kent Campus, Bayhealth Cancer Center, Sussex Campus, Bayhealth Medical Group Practices, as well numerous satellite facilities and employed physician practices encompassing a variety of specialties.  Bayhealth is an affiliate of Penn Medicine for Heart and Vascular, Cancer and Orthopaedics.

The Senior Director plans, directs, implements, and manages the administrative, financial, and operational responsibilities for Emergency and Observation Services. With responsibility for clinical operations, the Senior Director assures that competent, compassionate patient care is uniformly provided, and that policies, programs, and services are consistent with the hospital’s mission and the department’s vision. As a member of the nursing executive leadership team, the Senior Director participates in the efficient and effective management of the department of nursing, and the development of its strategic plan.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s and Master’s degree required (one of which must be in Nursing).
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible leadership experience in Emergency Services/Trauma.
  • Experience with the American College of Surgeons trauma verification process.
