The Organization

Milton S. Hershey Medical Center (MSHMC) is a $2 billion revenue, academic medical center licensed for 637 beds with 10,000+ employees located on the college of medicine campus in Hershey. MSHMC is a full-service, quaternary care hospital with all major services represented in both pediatric and adult medicine. MSHMC ranks #25 out of 102 academic medical centers nationwide for overall quality and safety.

MSHMC is part of Penn State Health (PSH), a eight-hospital health system serving patients and communities across 29 counties of Pennsylvania. The system shares operations with Penn State University College of Medicine and collaborates with the prestigious Penn State School of Nursing. PSH has a partnership with Highmark Health to facilitate creation of a value-based, community care network in the region.

The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic nursing executive to join a high-energy senior-leadership team as CNO in this Magnet certified, major academic medical center during a period of growth and expansion. The CNO will lead and support nursing at the medical center and will help to advance the broader strategic and operating plan for the organization as it develops a regional approach to care delivery.

The Candidate

An individual with strong interprofessional collaboration skills, demonstrated ability to engage and develop nursing leaders and staff, and a highly visible leadership style will be a fit for the MSHMC/PSH culture. Strong operational expertise, business knowledge, financial acumen, workforce planning expertise and contemporary knowledge of care delivery trends, including Magnet principles, will be valued, and will position an individual for success in this nationally recognized organization.
