SVP & Chief Nursing Officer

Thomas Jefferson University Hospital (TJUH), is seeking a highly experienced, quality focused, contemporary nursing leader for the role of Senior Vice President/Chief Nursing Officer (SVP/CNO). The successful candidate will have the ability to, build and lead a strong nursing leadership team committed to the highest standards of nursing practice and quality of patient care. This Magnet organization enjoys high levels of staff engagement and strong interprofessional collaboration with physicians and other disciplines. The TJUH SVP/CNO will be involved in continuing the strong relationship with the Thomas Jefferson University School of Nursing working collaboratively with the Dean of the College of Nursing. This position reports directly to the TJUH President. The SVP/CNO will have dotted line responsibility to the soon to be created Chief Nursing Executive (CNE) for Jefferson Health. The CNE will provide vision and strategic leadership for nursing across Jefferson Health System.

Qualifications
  • Doctoral preparation is strongly preferred. A Bachelor’s and Master’s degree required, one of which must be in Nursing.
  • An advanced level of knowledge acquired through completion of formal and continuing education in Nursing, health policy, regulatory compliance, process redesign and management are essential.
  • Extensive clinical nursing and management experience with a minimum of seven (7) years in senior nursing leadership roles is required with prior CNO experience.
  • Nursing leadership experience in an academic medical center or complex healthcare organization is required, preferably in a healthcare system.
  • Knowledge and experience in Magnet principles is required, as well as prior experience in a Magnet facility.
  • Knowledge of nursing staffing methods, retention, recruitment, and finance. Proven strategic-thinking, problem-solving and analytical skills.
