Kirby Bates Associates is pleased to partner with Inova Fairfax Medical Center, in their search for the Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer (VP/CNO). Inova’s Fairfax Medical Campus, a 928-bed flagship facility, is Magnet designated and nationally and regionally ranked hospital by US News & World Report.  The executive team is seeking a contemporary leader to promote the advancement of a collaborative, interprofessional culture that supports the provision of World Class Care for the region.

• Provide leadership in a culture of nursing excellence that advances nursing research and evidence-based practice for Inova’s Magnet-designated, nationally recognized, flagship hospital.
• Promote a Shared Governance Model that empowers and enables nurses at all levels across the organization to actively participate in decision-making structures and processes to establish standards of nursing practice.
• Serve in Northern Virginia’s only Level I Trauma Center, Level IV NICU, and dedicated Heart and Vascular Institute.
• Work with highly respected professional colleagues to promote World Class Care in a network of hospitals, outpatient services, assisted living and long-term care facilities, and healthcare centers.
• Join a strong, collaborative, employee-focused, executive leadership team.
• Lead Nursing in an independent academic medical center which serves as a regional medical school campus providing residency and fellowship training programs.
• Partner with regional schools and colleges of nursing to prepare the next generation of nursing providers and leaders.

The VP/CNO has a dual reporting relationship to the system Chief Nurse Executive (CNE) and the Inova Fairfax Medical Campus President and oversees nursing practice across all services on the Inova Fairfax Medical Campus.  The highly matrixed organizational structure promotes nursing practice integration while advancing clinical specialty innovation and differentiation.

The VP/CNO serves as a member of the Inova Fairfax Medical Campus senior management team to plan and execute the operational and strategic initiatives for the campus. Through the CNO Council, the CNO works with other Inova CNOs and CN to advance clinical outcomes, patient experience, and staff engagement and to achieve the mission, vision, values and strategic direction across the System.  www.inova.org; https://www.inova.org/locations/inova-fairfax-medical-campus

Qualifications:

• 5-7 years as a senior leader within a large, complex acute care hospital; Previous CNO experience required.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree required one of which must be in nursing, Doctoral degree preferred.
• Must hold at least one nationally recognized certification.
