Senior Director Emergency Services and Observation

Reading Hospital, part of Tower Health, is seeking a Senior Director of Emergency Services and Observation to lead the service line. Home to the largest Emergency Department in Pennsylvania, there are 95 licensed bays and more than 135,000 patient visits annually. The Senior Director will report directly to the SVP/CNO. Total FTEs are approximately 350. The Senior Director will work in a dyad partnership with the ED Medical Director. The team is seeking a strong visible leader who is transparent and supports the department’s shared governance structure.

Education and Experience Criteria

  • Bachelor’s and Master’s degree, one of which must be in Nursing.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in PA or eligible for licensure.
  • Minimum 5 years progressive leadership experience in Emergency Services.
  • Clinical specialty or Administrative certification.
  • A collaborative leader able to establish strong interpersonal relationships with physicians and colleagues.
  • Ability to support a professional practice culture, refine competencies in nursing practice, and support a culture of Magnet.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change, engage nursing leaders and staff and advance patient experience, quality and safety.
