Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) has exclusively retained Kirby Bates Associates to conduct a search for their next Associate Nursing Officer, Emergency Department (ANO-ED).  It is an outstanding opportunity for a dynamic, visionary, and patient-centered leader to guide nursing practice and champion excellence in patient care at a nationally recognized academic medical center—ranked as the #1 hospital in Tennessee.

The ANO, ED provides strategic and operational leadership for nursing in a large, complex ED, in collaboration with the Associate Operating Officer (AOO) and the System Emergency Physician-in-Chief, to drive high-quality patient care, staff engagement, and organizational goals.

The ANO ED will assume responsibility for 312 FTEs.  Direct reports: Nurse Manager (NM) of ED, NM of C Pod/Boarder Unit, ANM/Sane Program Manager, a dedicated ED CNS, two administrative assistants and centralized educators.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees required (one of which must be in Nursing). Doctorate preferred.
  • Current RN license in the state of Tennessee (or ability to obtain).
  • Ten years of progressive leadership experience in an academic emergency department setting.
  • A transformational and servant leader.
