Kirby Bates Associates has been exclusively retained by the Virgin Islands Government Hospital and Health Facilities Corporation to conduct a search for their new Chief Financial Officer of the Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center and Schneider Regional Medical Center.
Schneider Regional Medical Center (SRMC) in St. Thomas is a 169-bed acute-care facility and the only hospital of its kind on the island, serving as a cornerstone of healthcare for the U.S. Virgin Islands. Since its founding in 1982, SRMC has provided high-quality, patient-centered care to residents of St. Thomas, nearby St. John, and as well as to over 1.2 million annual visitors arriving by air and cruise ship. The hospital offers a wide array of inpatient and outpatient services, including emergency medicine, intensive care, surgery, cardiology, oncology, neonatology, and more. It is staffed by board-certified medical professionals and specialists across more than 40 disciplines, ensuring comprehensive care for a diverse patient population. SRMC is also accredited by The Joint Commission, reflecting its commitment to excellence in safety, performance, and patient outcomes.
Gov. Juan. F. Louis Hospital and Medical Center (JFL Hospital) in St. Croix is a 118-bed acute-care facility with over 500 healthcare professionals offering families high quality, patient-centered care that is well-coordinated and conveniently located close to home. They welcome nearly 400 babies each year in their labor and delivery department which includes the territory’s only NICU, staffed with board-certified neonatologists. The emergency department and trauma program treat over 12,000 individuals annually. They are also designated as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence utilizing advanced technology like 3D mammography.
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for the District Hospitals—Governor Juan F. Luis Hospital and Schneider Regional Medical Center—will lead all financial operations across both facilities and their subsidiaries. Reporting directly to the District CEO, the CFO oversees accounting, budgeting, reimbursement, treasury, and revenue cycle functions including admissions, billing, collections, and clinical coding. This strategic role ensures financial accuracy, compliance, and efficiency while aligning fiscal processes with hospital policies and legal standards. As a key advisor to the Governing Board and Leadership Team, the CFO drives financial decisions that support operational excellence and positive outcomes for the District’s healthcare system. The new CFO will have a unique opportunity to develop, implement, and oversee a unified financial system, harmonizing processes and procedures across both hospitals to ensure consistency, efficiency, and compliance.

Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field (required).
- CPA or equivalent certification (preferred).
- Ten or more years of progressive experience in healthcare finance, with at least three years of senior management in healthcare accounting.
- Experience in unifying financial systems across multiple entities is highly desirable.
