Chief Nursing Officer

Kirby Bates Associates is pleased to partner with a world class children’s hospital, CHRISTUS Children’s Hospital of San Antonio (CHOSA), to recruit a Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).

The mission-driven hospital rests on a 100-year tradition of serving the needs of the community and was the first and is currently the only freestanding children’s hospital in San Antonio. The contemporary facility provides primary, emergency, specialty, and sub-specialty children’s services, as well as comprehensive maternal and infant care. CHOSA is actively growing and expanding access to all services and actively developing new programs. CHOSA’s physicians include some of Texas’ top pediatric medical providers from Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Hospital, as well as community-based practitioners.

The CNO will be expected to develop the strategic vision for nursing based on contemporary trends in nursing practice and the strategic direction of the Hospital and CHRISTUS Health. The CNO will work in a dyad relationship with the chief medical officer and collaborate with interprofessional colleagues to grow the services provided, including initiating new sub-specialty services. The CNO will support a nursing leadership infrastructure that fosters staff engagement, promotes optimal clinical outcomes, and fosters positive patient and family experience. The CNO is a member of the hospital’s administrative team and serves as the nursing clinical expert for pediatrics across the CHRISTUS Health system.
