Chief Nursing Officer

Kirby Bates Associates is honored to work in collaboration with the Massachusetts General Hospital to identify an exceptional nursing leader to serve as Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) for Jiahui International Health (JIH) in Shanghai, China.

THE POSITION

The JIH CNO will play a key role in the development of a better healthcare model in China. The CNO is accountable for assuring that competent, compassionate patient care is uniformly provided throughout JIH. Key areas of focus are: 1) Patient Care and Quality Outcomes; 2) Leadership and Strategy; 3) Operations and Efficiency; 4) Human Capital Leadership; and, 5) Research and Education. The evidence-based nursing professional practice model and patient care delivery model were developed in collaboration with MGH. The CNO will continue to support the model and create a culture of life‐long learning.

There is an acting CNO in place, as well as Directors for the Cancer Center, Inpatient Nursing, Women’s Health, Outpatient Services (including ED), the Network of clinics, and Perioperative Services (OR/Endo and CSSD). There is also a Director for Patient Quality and Safety, Infection Control Manager, Nursing Informatics Manager, Nursing Affairs Officer, three Nurse Educators and two Patient Educators. All members of the Nursing leadership team speak English and Chinese. In 2018, a total of 219 nursing staff will be hired. This is an all RN nursing staff.

QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a highly experienced, progressive and adaptable senior nursing leader with a minimum of 7 years of executive level leadership experience, including a minimum of 3 years practicing in North America. A BSN and graduate degree are required along with RN licensure in current state/country of employment. Must be fluent in English and, ideally, also speak Mandarin. Must have demonstrated organizational, managerial, and entrepreneurial skills; demonstrated experience establishing partnerships and alliances at all levels of the organization; and the ability to build a team of engaged employees.

No other city in the country is more vibrant and fascinating, or has such a unique colonial past. The cost of living in Shanghai is significantly lower that major US cities, such as New York, San Francisco, Chicago and Boston.
