Chief Nursing Officer

Brandywine Hospital is seeking an innovative, transformational Chief Nursing Officer (CNO). As a member of the senior management team, the CNO is responsible for all of Patient Care Services, Pharmacy, Respiratory, Professional Practice, Education, Dialysis, Clinical Informatics, Cath Lab, Behavioral Health, Emergency Services, and Perioperative Services. Reports directly to the President & CEO at Brandywine with dotted line to the SVP/CNO for Tower Health.

Key Opportunities:

  • Provide leadership that creates engagement and ownership of goals through shared governance.
  • Create a nursing environment that fosters collaboration and cultivates relationships across departments.
  • Partner with physicians and assist in planning new services that generate additional sources of revenue.
  • Create an environment that will encourage recruiting and retention of staff and leadership.
  • Develop and manage nursing services budget and ensure sufficient number of qualified staff.
  • Analyze areas in planning, promoting and supporting organization-wide performance improvement activities.
  • Represent nursing services at all meetings including medical staff and hospital board of director meetings.
  • Transformational leadership to guide the organization to Magnet designation.

Education and Experience Criteria:

  • Bachelor’s and Master’s degree required, one of which must be in Nursing. Doctorate in Nursing Practice preferred.
  • Nurse Executive Certification required.
  • Minimum of five years in healthcare leadership at the Director level required.
  • Knowledge of ANCC Pathway to Excellence and/or Magnet, shared governance, and evidence-based nursing practice.
  • Strong financial acumen.
  • Current RN licensure to practice in the state of PA (or eligible to obtain).
