Director Nursing Operations

Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC), with 396 licensed beds, is the flagship hospital of Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health (D-HH).  DHMC was named the #1 hospital in New Hampshire by U.S. News & World Report in 2020, and recognized for high performance in nine clinical specialties, procedures, and conditions. DHMC is the only academic medical center, and the only level 1 Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center in NH.   Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health also includes the Norris Cotton Cancer Center INCCC), one of only 51 NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the nation; the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock, the state’s only children’s hospital; affiliated member hospitals in Lebanon, Keene, and New London, NH, and Windsor, VT; and Visiting Nurse and Hospice. It also includes 24 Dartmouth-Hitchcock clinics that provide ambulatory services across NH and VT. The D-HH system trains nearly 400 residents and fellows annually, and performs world-class research in partnership with the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. The NCCC is one of the premier facilities for cancer treatment, research, prevention, and education.

The Director Nursing Operations (Director) is responsible for the development, management and outcomes for systems and programs which support nursing and patient care, nursing research, education, informatics, quality and patient safety, professional development, Magnet, and shared governance.  The Director works with inpatient and ambulatory management to establish standards of practice/care and outcome measures related to nursing practice and patient care. Assists in developing and maintaining high standards of quality and financial performance within areas of responsibility. Leads strategic development for patient care delivery. Directs the development and implementation of annual operating and capital budget programs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required.
  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in nursing preferred.
  • Licensed or eligible for RN licensure in NH.
  • Demonstrated ability to function independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and concisely both verbally and in writing with individuals and groups at various levels and various disciplines.
  • Five years’ experience in progressively responsible nursing leadership roles, preferably in oncology.
