Director of Business Development

Kirby Bates Associates is working with a national hospitalist group to conduct a search for their next Director of Business Development.

This organization is a recognized leader in elevating the quality and safety of women’s healthcare. Their OB clinicians are in hospitals 24/7 to ensure consistent, timely care for every patient entering the labor and delivery unit or obstetric emergency department. Their presence reduces delay in emergent OB/GYN care, improves outcomes, reduces wait times, and increases patient satisfaction compared to traditional triage models. In addition, hospitalists are available around the clock offering collaborative, non-competitive support for local OB/GYN physicians.  They leverage a national network of dedicated clinicians in partner hospitals across the United States to develop best practices in care which improve patient outcomes, reduce care variability, and drive operational and financial efficiencies.

Reporting to a regional VP of Business Development, the Director of Business Development will be responsible for developing untapped, dormant, and underdeveloped markets and systems within the healthcare industry in the Midwest or Western regions. They will identify and cultivate relationships with prospective hospitals, health systems, and physician groups through in-market outreach and face-to-face interactions. The successful candidate will deliver opportunities that result in new hospital partnerships, owning the sales process from opportunity identification through proposal presentation and closing.

Opportunity Highlights:  

  • Serve as a consultative resource to hospital executives to develop innovative hospitalist programs that improve healthcare for women and babies.
  • Develop new business with no cap in a collaborative and innovative team environment.
  • Fully remote position with self-directed 50% travel.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Continually cultivate relationships with prospective hospitals, health systems, and physician groups through in-market outreach and face-to-face interactions within the Midwest or Western regions.
  • Successfully sell next steps and utilize relationships to identify and create viable partnership opportunities.
  • Identify, develop, and manage opportunities that result in new partnerships, with clinical and executive support for proposals and closing.
  • Maintain a high level of product knowledge – the company’s unique value proposition, operating model, competitor product offerings, and market presence.
  • Educate hospital administration, physician groups, and systems on the organization’s unique value proposition, cultivating buy-in and creating advocacy.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s in business, communications, healthcare, or related field.
  • Three years of sales experience in healthcare with at least one year of outside sales experience.
  • Prior experience in marketing high-dollar healthcare staffing solutions.
  • Proven track record of consultative sales experience and effective executive client relationship building.
