Director of Perioperative, Business & Strategy Development

Kirby Bates Associates is pleased to partner with Lifespan Health in their search for a Director of Perioperative, Business & Strategy Development.

Lifespan Health  includes Rhode Island Hospital (RIH), Hasbro Children’s Hospital, The Miriam Hospital, Newport Hospital, Bradley Hospital, Gateway Healthcare and over 1,000 clinics throughout Rhode Island.  The system level position is aligned as follows: RIH (70%), Miriam Hospital & Newport Hospital (combined 30%). RIH, with 719 licensed beds and 21 ORs, is a private, not-for-profit acute care hospital and the state’s only Level I trauma center and verified burn center. RIH provides comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services, as well as expertise in cancer, cardiology, diabetes, emergency medicine, neurosciences, orthopedics and more. The Miriam Hospital, with 247 licensed beds and 3 ORs,  was ranked first among RI hospitals in U.S. News & World Report’s 2020-2021 Best Regional Hospitals and top 50 in the U.S. for urology services. Newport Hospital, with 129 licensed beds and 5 ORs,  provides diagnostic and surgical services and is home to the renowned Vanderbilt Rehabilitation Center and the award-winning Noreen Stonor Drexel Birthing Center.

Lifespan is seeking a contemporary leader with critical thinking skills who understands the clinical, operational, and financial opportunities and challenges within Perioperative Services, including Business/Utilization and capacity management as well as strategic planning. Reporting to the Lifespan ACNO, VP of Perioperative Services, the Director will

  • Provide structure and accountability for Business and Strategy Development.
  • Work in collaboration with other Perioperative Directors in assisting in their Strategic, Operational and Financial responsibilities.
  • Design, manage, and implement consistent business, operational and strategic initiatives throughout Perioperative Services for the system.
  • Case scheduling management, block time allocation and utilization and employee management.
  • Business management of financials, staffing, reporting, productivity, central sterile and supply order.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Nursing, Health Care Administration, Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field highly preferred.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience with increasing responsibility in leadership and the management of perioperative services, finance, or accounting.
  • Experience at a large, complex, tertiary, quaternary academic medical center.
  • Ability to work with physicians on program development.
  • Highly analytical, strong financial acumen, and knowledge of the perioperative revenue cycle.
