Kirby Bates Associates has been exclusively retained by Hospital for Special Care to conduct a search for their next Director of Satellite Operations in Hartford, Connecticut.
Hospital for Special Care is the fourth-largest free-standing long-term acute care hospital in the U.S. and one of only two serving both adults and children. A not-for-profit institution, it offers specialized inpatient and outpatient programs in pulmonary care (including ventilator weaning), acquired brain injury, medically complex pediatrics, neuromuscular disorders, spinal cord injury, complex wounds, cardiac care (including heart failure and LVAD), and autism spectrum disorder. Known for exceeding national standards in outcomes and patient-centered care, the hospital emphasizes a coordinated, multidisciplinary approach to help patients and families rebuild their lives.
Reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer, the Director of Satellite Operations will provide strategic and operational leadership for a 26-bed adult patient unit at a free-standing satellite campus located in downtown Hartford, specializing in complex rehabilitation services including brain injury, cardiac care, pulmonary care, spinal cord injury, and medically complex adult populations with multiple chronic conditions. This role holds full accountability for clinical care delivery and bedside outcomes, while also overseeing all ancillary services at the satellite location. The Director will manage a multidisciplinary team, ensure regulatory compliance including Joint Commission standards, and drive quality improvement initiatives. Additionally, they will oversee day-to-day operations of on-site Trinity-employed physicians under contract, foster community outreach partnerships, and promote a culture of patient-centered, evidence-based care through mentorship, performance development, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing required, master’s degree in healthcare administration, nursing, or related field required.
- Minimum seven years of clinical experience with at least three in management roles.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and clinical best practices with proven experience in change management, team leadership, and complex projects.
