Kirby Bates Associates has been exclusively retained by Island Health to conduct a search for their next Director, Quality & Risk Management.
The Director of Quality and Risk Management provides strategic leadership across the organization to ensure excellence in quality improvement, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation. This role oversees performance improvement initiatives, medical staff peer review, and readiness for regulatory surveys (DNV, DOH, etc.). It also manages patient safety, employee injury prevention, liability claims, and institutional education programs. The Director serves as a change agent, fostering collaboration across departments, mentoring staff, and driving continuous quality improvement through data analysis, regulatory expertise, and evidence-based practices.

- The salary range is $140,000-170,000.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s in nursing and a Master’s degree in nursing or a related field including current RN license required.
- Minimum of five years of quality program leadership experience required.
- Proficiency in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) principles and statistical analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and foster institutional readiness for regulatory review.
- Experience in developing and implementing educational programs for clinical and support staff.
