City of Hope National Medical Center (COH), a world leader in cancer research, treatment, and prevention, is seeking candidates for their Executive Director, Case Management (Executive Director). COH, a Magnet recognized, NCI designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, has been ranked among the nation’s “Best Hospitals” in cancer by U.S. News & World Report for over a decade.  City of Hope’s growing system includes its main Los Angeles campus, a network of clinical care locations across Southern California, a new cancer center in Orange County, CA that opened the summer of 2022, and Cancer Treatment Centers of America.  COH brings a uniquely integrated model to patients, spanning cancer care, research and development, academics and training, and innovation initiatives.

The Executive Director is responsible to design and implement Case Management programs and systems to facilitate transitions of care that provide high quality continuity of care for patients and meet the department and divisional objectives consistent with City of Hope’s philosophy, mission, vision, and strategic plan.

The Executive Director works collaboratively to: 

  • Influence physicians, staff and leadership with data driven results and effective communication.
  • Develop and maintain the department’s operating budget, annual review and development of case management and utilization plans.
  • Lead personnel in providing safe, high quality patient care related to discharge planning and transitions of care, including physicians and advanced practice providers.
  • Ensure the oversight of authorizations and appropriateness of inpatient admissions, continued stay days and discharges in a timely manner.
  • Opportunity to expand scope beyond Case Management to facilitate administrative/business operations across the continuum.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s and Master’s degree, one of which must be in Nursing.
  • Minimum of 10 years nursing experience in case management and 7 years in nursing leadership.
  • Experience with discharge planning, utilization management, denial management and regulatory requirements of CMS Conditions of Participation and Joint Commission.
  • Current California license required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • Accredited Case Manager (ACM) or Certified Case Manager (CCM) certification preferred.
  • Oncology experience preferred.
