Director, Ambulatory Care Services

The Director, Ambulatory Care Services (DACS) will bring contemporary leadership knowledge and experience in ambulatory practice in a complex, multifaceted academic medical center with services ranging from primary care to acute interventional services. A Senior Clinical Manager provides operational support and 10 Clinical Managers and 6 Assistant Nurse Managers are responsible for each clinic The scope of services includes 5 Resident Clinic Specialties: Primary Care, OB/GYN, Wound Care, Psychiatry and Surgery, including 18 surgical specialties, and 3 interventional procedural specialties in 2 locations: Endoscopy, Pain Management and the Outpatient Infusion Clinic. The DACS will support the development of Clinical Managers and the implementation of a Dyad leadership model in each area.

The DACS will use evidence-based knowledge to advance nursing practice to top of license, ensure optimal role contribution from all members of the patient care team, and establish a culture of employee engagement and retention. The DACS reports directly to Jacque Randolph, Executive Director, Ambulatory Services, with a matrix reporting relationship to Maggie Johnson Glover, Associate Chief Nursing Officer. The DACS will partner with the Director of Operations and work collaboratively with nursing colleagues within the acute care setting to advance practice in a Magnet organization, promote nursing science, facilitate care transitions and address the healthcare needs and expectations of the community served. The DACS will work with BJC leaders and WUSM partners to ensure an interdisciplinary approach to care delivery with the goal of seamless patient progression across ambulatory services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s and Master’s degree, one of which must be in Nursing. Eligible for RN license in MO.
  • Contemporary leadership experience or service line leadership experience in a complex ambulatory setting.
  • Ten (10) years of nursing experience and progressive management/leadership experience.
  • Ability to promote a professional nursing culture in a Magnet designated AMC.
  • Confident, innovative leader with knowledge of emerging models of ambulatory care delivery.
  • Experience with underserved populations; able to build an inclusive environment for patients, families and employees.
  • Ability to design and implement an overarching ambulatory patient care delivery model.
  • Ability to develop nursing leaders and promote staff engagement.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve national metrics for ambulatory services.

St. Louis, the Gateway City, is famous for its 630-foot arch located in the city’s downtown and the 79 different neighborhoods each with a distinctive style and character. Bordered by the Mississippi River, it is the cultural and economic center of the Greater St. Louis Metropolitan area, and offers diverse theatre, music, art and sports. Major corporations including Anheuser-Busch, Express Scripts, Boeing Defense, Panera, and Edward Jones are located in St. Louis.
