Senior Director, Surgical Services

Kirby Bates Associates is pleased to partner with North Kansas City Hospital (NKCH), a 451-bed not-for-profit regional referral center, in their search for a dynamic Senior Director, Surgical Services.

The Magnet-designated hospital serves the community with more than 3,000 employees, and 508 physicians representing 46 medical specialties. From a Level III neonatal intensive care unit to award-winning cardiovascular and orthopedic programs, to home health services, NKCH provides a lifetime of care.

The Senior Director, Surgical Services provides oversight and is accountable for administrative, financial, regulatory, quality, and operational performance for Perioperative Services to include Operating Rooms, SPD, Pre-op, PACU, GI, and Pain Management Nursing Services. Responsibilities include leading teams, managing culture change in a complex matrixed environment, planning, organizing, developing, and executing operational plans that support the strategic growth of Surgical Services and its service lines. The relationship based Senior Director will cultivate close working relationships with the surgeons and participates with the other Senior Directors in assisting with the overall management of hospital operations.

Opportunity Highlights:  

  • 28 Operating Rooms across three locations, approximately 15,000 surgeries each year.
  • Work in a triad model with Anesthesia and Surgeon partners.
  • Reports to the hospital’s Senior Vice President/Chief Operating Officer.
  • Features a hybrid endovascular operating suite – the most technologically advanced surgery suite in the Kansas City area.
  • Offers the TAVR and WATCHMAN heart procedures as well as the O-arm imaging system – the only hospital in the Northland to do so.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required, Master’s in Hospital Administration or equivalent preferred.
  • Registered Nurse licensure required.
  • Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR).
  • Ten years of hospital OR administrative/leadership experience and 3-5 years of OR clinical experience.
