The Vice President Chief Nurse Executive (VP/CNE) is responsible for 20 hospitals in Northeast TX (7), Louisiana (7) and Southeast TX (6). The VP/CNE reports directly to the System Senior Vice President/Chief Nursing Officer for CHRISTUS Health and serves as a member of the regional Senior Leadership Team. Indirect reports to the VP/CNE include all hospital Chief Nursing Officers within the assigned region. Working with the CHRISTUS Corporate team, hospital CEOs and CNOs, the VP/CNE will ensure operational execution of the System’s strategic initiatives across the assigned region. At the hospital level, the VP/CNE will guide CNOs in the implementation of a new patient care delivery model and other new programs. S/he will also support evidence-based nursing practices to ensure measurable results in clinical outcomes, quality, safety and patient experience. The VP/CNE will coach and mentor CNOs to promote contemporary leadership competencies and foster a decentralized participative management approach based on a shared governance model. As a member of the regional Senior Leadership Teams, the VP/CNE will collaborate with colleagues on resource-allocation, facilities, equipment, and programs to achieve the regional and hospital(s) objectives.
Qualifications
- Eligibility for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas. BSN and Master’s degree in Nursing or other health related field required.
- A minimum of five years’ experience as a senior nursing leader, preferably in an integrated delivery system.
- Experience in analyzing competitive healthcare environments and implementing strategies to improve clinical performance.
- Strong operational leadership ability, fiscal competency, knowledge of resource planning and staffing systems.
- Demonstrated ability to implement EBP and to achieve measurable outcomes in quality, safety and patient experience.
- Transformational leadership style and the ability to mentor senior leaders to attain performance metrics.
- Able to balance financial imperatives while achieving positive results in clinical outcomes and patient experience.
- Experience working successfully in community hospital settings and the ability to embrace a faith-based culture.
- Availability to travel throughout the Division.

Tyler, Texas, Longview is the principal city of the Longview metropolitan area, comprising Gregg, Upshur, and Rusk counties. Longview is considered a major hub city for East Texas. In 2014, Forbes magazine ranked Longview as the sixth fastest-growing small city in the United States.
