UNC Rex Healthcare has exclusively retained Kirby Bates Associates to identify their next Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).

UNC REX Healthcare, a member of the UNC Health system, is a 716-bed private not-for-profit health care system which includes UNC REX Hospital, the North Carolina Heart & Vascular Hospital, the UNC REX Cancer Center (opened 3/1/22), REX Holly Springs Hospital (opened 11/1/21), five wellness centers, two skilled nursing facilities, and urgent care centers.

UNC REX is located in one of the fastest growing regions of the country.  Per year, REX averages 30,000 inpatient discharges, 5,000 births, over 50,000 surgeries and procedures and 65,000 ED visits.  These numbers are rapidly increasing with the opening of their second hospital and continued community growth.

Opportunity Highlights: 

  • Join a growing organization with plans for: a new main campus tower, expansion of Holly Springs Hospital and increasing access to care for patients across the region.
  • Oversee all aspects of nursing operations across UNC REX entities with a focus on developing and retaining teammates and supporting the creation of a new robust people strategy.
  • Maintain/continue to improve performance on key metrics with a focus on quality, safety, and the patient experience.
  • Direct the delivery of efficient, economic, quality patient care consistent with current evidence-based research as well as regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with the interprofessional team in developing, implementing, and monitoring organization-wide performance improvement activities.
  • Bring innovation and knowledge of contemporary practices in health care to UNC REX.

Qualifications:

  • Ten years of progressively responsible leadership experience.
  • Bachelor’s and master’s degree required, one of which must be in Nursing.
  • Ability to work in matrix reporting structure.
