Vice President, Education and Clinical Solutions

The Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN), is a not-for-profit membership organization that promotes the health of women and newborns. AWHONN’s mission is to empower and support nurses caring for women, newborns, and their families through research, education, and advocacy. The Vice President, Education and Clinical Solutions is critical to the continued growth of the association, through dedicated relationship management and skillful negotiation of clinical contracts and services. The key areas that are required for successful execution of this role include: clinical guidance, strategic vision, external relationship management, staff leadership, education development, and revenue generation.

Opportunity Highlights:

  • Serves as a clinical expert in women’s health, obstetric and neonatal nursing, and positions AWHONN as a thought leader.
  • Develops and executes departmental strategic plan, including development of key metrics and evaluation of effectiveness.
  • Facilitate and drive key educational initiatives from inception phase.
  • Partner and develop strong working relationships with external association and organization leadership, and consultants to support execution of key AWHONN initiatives.
  • Leads professional team of staff with a commitment to excellent member service and delivery of cutting-edge educational programs and events.
  • Establishes vision and strategic plan for educational development and oversight.
  • Leads and oversees educational planning for Annual Convention.
  • Implements industry best practices for adult education, and spearheads innovation for content development.
  • Builds upon current revenue sources and identifies new value-added services and sources of revenue.

Qualifications:

  • Doctoral preparation in nursing (PhD, DNP, DrPH)
  • National certification in nursing strongly preferred (AONL, ANCC, NCC, etc.)
  • 10 years of progressive nursing leadership experience, including executive level leadership
  • Superior interpersonal capabilities with emphasis on relationship building
  • Demonstrated complex problem-solving skills, including interdisciplinary approaches
  • Experience in writing and securing commercial and non-commercial grants preferred
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills. Customer service mindset.
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Ability to travel nationally, at times with short notice.
