Interview with Karen Kirby by Nurse Leaders

Did you see the recent issue of Nurse Leader? Roxane Spitzer, PhD, RN, MBA, FAAN sits down with our CEO, Karen K. Kirby, MSN, RN, NEA-BC, FACHE, FAAN to discuss what motivated her to run her own business, how she addresses the pressing issue of nursing workforce planning, and more. Click here to read the full interview now.

Karen and Roxane discuss Karen’s 47-year career as a nurse leader and the many national and international healthcare executive roles that have taken her from Boston to San Francisco and to India, the Middle East, the Far East, throughout Europe and beyond.

In the interview, Karen reveals the path that led her to become a nurse entrepreneur: “I didn’t set out to start a management recruitment business, it came to me, and I wanted to expand and enhance it. It is now 15 years later, and I have been able to elevate the level of executive search to only CNO and director-level positions, and added interim management services, coaching, and consulting services.”

Karen further elaborates on her enduring passion and future goals. “Making sure the right number and mix of staff are available at the lowest cost to meet both patient and staff needs is, at best, a difficult task. I would really like to have an impact on this issue in my professional lifetime.”

I hope that you are as inspired by Karen’s story and fascinating career as we are.
